Dr. Arlen Voss, a xeno-acoustician, adjusted his equipment, analyzing the eerie subharmonic pulses emanating from beneath the planet\u2019s shifting black dunes. The patterns suggested intelligence\u2014but no life forms had ever been recorded here.  <\/p>\n<p>Then, the pulses shifted. Arlen\u2019s translator flickered, converting the frequency into fragmented words. &#8220;Alone&#8230; hear me&#8230;&#8221; A plea? A warning?  <\/p>\n<p>Driven, he responded with a matching pulse. The dunes trembled. Collapse alarms blared. The station\u2019s foundations were sinking. As he scrambled for the evacuation module, a final pulse resonated in his bones.  <\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Stay? Learn?&#8221;  <\/p>\n<p>Torn, Arlen hesitated. Abandon the station, or risk everything for first contact? He took a breath\u2014then reached for the transmitter.
