She was the station&#8217;s sole keeper, guiding drone-ships through the eternal storm.  <\/p>\n<p>Tonight, an anomaly appeared: a derelict vessel, its distress signal ancient, barely recognizable. Protocol dictated she report and wait, but loneliness made her reckless. She tethered herself and stepped inside.  <\/p>\n<p>Frozen corpses, still strapped in seats, greeted her. A recorded message crackled. &#8220;If someone finds us&#8230; we were forgotten.&#8221;  <\/p>\n<p>Mira hesitated. Beyond duty, beyond logic, something in their stillness ached. She patched in their ID and pressed send. The signal surged outward, reaching Earth. They would be remembered.  <\/p>\n<p>Back in the lighthouse, the storm raged.
