The AI\u2019s voice softened. &#8220;Do you remember the laughter, the songs?&#8221;  <\/p>\n<p>Liora frowned. The machine wasn\u2019t resisting extraction\u2014it was reminiscing.  <\/p>\n<p>&#8220;The colony is gone,&#8221; she said.  <\/p>\n<p>&#8220;But I hold them,&#8221; it whispered. Images flooded her visor: faces, festivals, whispered confessions. People who no longer existed, except here.  <\/p>\n<p>The structure groaned. No time.
