He had been in yesterday, asking if Oakes had &#8220;the rare edition.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Margaret stepped back. &#8220;You took him, didn\u2019t you? The book contained something valuable.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Rourke\u2019s face twisted before he bolted, but officers arrived just in time. Hidden inside the book\u2019s spine were rare war bonds\u2014Oakes had realized their worth too late.
