Engineer Keva Joss monitored the drone fleet, calibrating their trajectories to siphon unstable plasma. It was precise work\u2014one miscalculation, and the station would be swallowed whole.  <\/p>\n<p>A garbled transmission crackled through her console. &#8220;Help&#8230;stranded&#8230;drift failing&#8230;&#8221; The signal bore an outdated encryption from a survey ship lost decades ago. Impossible.  <\/p>\n<p>Keva hesitated. The Maw\u2019s pull was growing stronger, and diverting power to signal retrieval risked their stability. Yet, someone\u2014or something\u2014was out there.  <\/p>\n<p>She rerouted auxiliary thrusters, extending the station\u2019s field just enough to scan the origin. Flickering through interference, a derelict ship shimmered\u2014a ghost from the past. Keva stared at the life readings\u2014human, barely stable. Was it a trap? Or proof that isolation was never complete?  <\/p>\n<p>With a deep breath, she hailed them. &#8220;Hold on.
