Dawnlight’s Ascendancy

The silver moon cast its glow over the Obsidian Steps as Elyndra climbed, her fingers trailing over the ancient runes carved into the black stone. Below, the storm churned over the ruined city, lightning illuminating the skeletal remains of fallen titans. At the summit, the Heart of Vhalis pulsed within its pedestal—a shard of crystallized dawnlight, stolen by the umbral serpents.

Elyndra stepped forward, the wind whipping her cloak. Behind her, the shadow-born guardian emerged, its form shifting between talons and smoke. It lunged. She raised her staff, striking the pedestal. Energy roared outward, shattering the darkness. Light rushed through the ruins, burning away the encroaching shadows.

As the guardian dissolved into ash, Elyndra collapsed, her breath ragged. Below, the city walls shimmered, the old wards rekindling. The Heart pulsed in her palm. She had won—though the power now bound her. She was the city’s new guardian.
