Memory’s Sphere

Plumes of orange dust spiraled into the rusted sky as Dr. Hira adjusted her oxygen mask. The abandoned dig site on Vektra-6 held whispers of a lost civilization, and she had one chance to uncover its truth.

Her scanner beeped. Beneath fractured stone lay an artifact—a crystalline sphere glowing faintly, inscribed with shifting symbols. As she lifted it, a pulse rippled through her suit. A voice, distant yet intimate, filled her mind.

“You are not alone.”

Memories not her own flooded in—towering cities, laughter, a farewell whispered to oblivion. The people of Vektra-6 had reached for the stars, but something had silenced them. Now, only this message endured, waiting to be heard.

Hira clutched the sphere tighter. She had spent years buried in research, isolating herself in the pursuit of knowledge. Yet this—this was a connection, a bridge across time. She would share their story.

As she turned to leave, the sphere pulsed once more. “Remember us.”

“I will,” she whispered.
