Dr. Lenna Ko adjusted her visor as she descended into the Hourglass Cavern, a shifting labyrinth beneath the dunes of Valtor-7. The cave’s walls pulsed with bioluminescent veins—an organic anomaly no one had fully explained.
She was alone, as always. Her research demanded it. The cavern’s air carried whispers, but she dismissed them as echoes of shifting sand. That was, until a voice shaped itself from the hum.
“You seek knowledge,” it said.
Lenna froze. No life had been detected here. Her scanner showed nothing.
“I can show you what your kind has forgotten,” it continued.
Curiosity battled her instincts. Every discovery had been hers alone; why stop now? She reached out, and the walls responded, morphing into images—memories of a civilization erased by its own hunger for progress.
A warning. A gift.
For the first time, Lenna understood: discovery was meaningless without someone to share it with.
